In Greene County district court Danyell Marie Freeman, 49, of Fort Dodge was sentenced July 2 to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree, amended from theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended. She was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. She was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was also suspended. If they’re ever served they will be concurrent. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. Court costs were $258.60. (Sentencing: Honorable Kurt J. Stoebe)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Brandon Lee Ferguson, 26, of Scranton, driving while license barred; Kim M. Asingho, 33, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; and Gregory Wayne Pendegraft, 20, of Urbandale, sex abuse- third degree- child victim 4 years or older, and grooming. A trial date was set for Sept. 30 for Ferguson and for Aug. 26 for Asingho and Pendegraft.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Christene Rae Thompson, 49, of Jefferson, murder- first degree and domestic abuse assault display/use weapon; Daniel R. Coleman, 53, of Gowrie, operating while intoxicated; and Flavie Toto Cocuyo, 28, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, and in magistrate court, possession of drug paraphernalia.
